2008 season comes to an end
We moved Serena to Scarano Boat Builders at the south end of the Port of Albany on October 16, 2008. The run south from the Albany Yacht Club was uneventful, except for Admiral Mary's broken foot. Who knew? Despite the slight hitch to her gait, Mary seemed to have no problems dragging all our gear to the north end docks where Serena is docked at AYC.
Whatever the problem was, I must have aggravated it as we approached the yard's service dock with a tad too much speed. The Admiral always "takes one for the ship" by hurling her foot between the 30,000 pounds of fast moving vessel and the dock we're about to hit. That high-pitched yelping I heard as she fended us off the service dock should have been a clue that something was amiss. X-rays later confirmed that the Admiral had been trundling about for several days with a foot fracture. What a trooper!
